City of La Porte Texas is a community of approximately 33,000 residents and it borders Galveston Bay and only a short drive to Galveston beaches, 25 miles east of Houston. La Porte is a diverse city with people of many different backgrounds, yet maintains that small town appeal with its quaint downtown shops, Sylvan Beach Park and pavillion and fishing piers.
La Porte offers many other recreational opportunities such as Bay Forest Golf Course, City parks, wave pool, boat ramps, community recreational and fitness center, senior citizen center, San Jacinto Monument and Battleship.
La Porte host two popular annual festivals "Bay Day" and "Sylvan Beach Day" featuring live music, food, rides and beauty contest, La Porte also has an Annual Rodeo and cookoff event. The youth of La Porte attend the La Porte School District,, La Porte High School puts on a wonderful play called SADD (students against drunk driving) every 2 years. Back to Back baseball district championships. Additional educational opportunities are available close by at San Jacinto Jr. College and University of Houston Clear Lake.
