Friendswood Texas was discovered by Frank J. Brown and Thomas H. Lewis in the Spring of 1895. Brown and Lewis were members of religious sect called Quakers or Friends. On July 15, 1895, the name of the colony, Friendswood, was recorded in Galveston courthouse. The first 50 years, there was 1 church, 1 school, a post office, grocery store and fig processing plants.
