La Porte

La Porte, Texas was founded in 1892 as speculative real estate venture by an investment group.  Today, the city's vision is to be recognized as a top municipal corporation in the State of Texas.  This is a vibrant community with award winning schools, state-of-the-art-library, spacious parkland, easy access to Houston, a municipal government willing to partner with business for success and is the hometown of nearly 35,000 residents and many petrochemical industries.

A premiere Baseball complex is home to Pecan Park, featuring ten manicured fields for every age group.  The park also offers pristine playground, picnic area, walking trails, covered seating and seven bar-b-Que pits.

The city offers an incredible variety of places to eat and shop, as well as community grocery stores, pharmacies.  and offers a popular wave pool for the kids as well as hike and bike trails.  An important part of La Porte's history is Main Street and it offers a relaxed atmosphere with many antique and specialty shops.


Many employment opportunities exist at the local Petrochemical companies along with the many supporting construction, electrical, and various contracting companies.  The Port of Houston and the transportation and warehousing industries contribute many jobs.  Some residents make the short commute to jobs in aerospace or into downtown Houston.
