League City is a city located in Galveston County, Texas, within the Greater Houston metropolitan area. The city is approximately 30 miles southeast of downtown Houston. As of the 2010 census, League City’s population was 83,560, up from 45,444 at the 2000 census. Many of the original settlers in League City arrived from Ohio in the mid-19th century, and the city’s name is derived from the Original League of 1854, a group of settlers who joined together to promote the development of their new community.
League City has experienced rapid growth since the 1990s and is now one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas. The city still retains a small-town feel, however, with its many parks and tree-lined neighborhoods.
